Bathrooms

Wet rooms and en-suites can be a fantastic addition and don't have to cost the earth.

The first things you need to consider when contemplating a new bath room are budget, size of room and who will be using it.

Family BathroomsIf it’s a family bathroom, it will be one of the hardest working rooms in the house and it needs careful planning. With a family bathroom you need to make sure that it flows easily and offers as many washing options as possible, and of course the all-important factor, storage – plenty of it!

We believe that if children will be using the bathroom, the best solution is to keep it simple. For example, little hands can cause big problems, by simply pulling too hard at expensive wall mounted controllers! Simple, however, does not mean boring, and where bathrooms are concerned simplicity really is everything.

BathsBaths. Nothing beats a big family bath. Smaller children can share the bath with ease, and then you can enjoy relaxing in it at the end of a hard day.

Basins: Two are better than one as it speeds up the morning bathroom rush hour. Wall hung basins free up valuable floor area and give the impression of greater space, particularly in smaller rooms.

Showers

Showers: If you are considering a wet area, just remember that most children have a great knack of turning a bathroom into a swimming pool! As an alternative, we would suggest a low level shower tray (35mm), recessed into the floor. This would give the same appearance and it will contain any spillage so your house remains intact.

Storage: If you have enough space in the bathroom to have a conventional airing cupboard that’s great, but if not a free standing unit, including built in-shelves would be a great addition.

BathHeating: There has to be a wall-mounted towel rail or if the budget allows, electric under floor heating works really well, especially on a tiled floor.
